Solution: Dell Latitude E6400 poor Sound quality bug
Tried to listen to music today on a Dell latitude E6400, tried We7.com and the sound was woeful, so tried Grooveshark.com and the same.
After playing with the settings found the issue- the difference is night and day.
1) Open Volume Control (double click on the volume icon in the bottom right corner of your screen)
2) Click on the ‘Advanced’ button at the bottom left of the volume control.
3) Tick the box next to ‘1 PC Mute’
Enjoy!

It worked!
Thanks a lot, I have had two of these as work machines, the first I had to update the sound driver and it fixed it, but I couldn’t find the same driver for my second one and stumbled upon this post. I opened the panel disabled the option and that did it!
I can only assume the alternative driver I had installed on the previous machine didn’t have this option. No idea why they would ship the machine like this, it is hidden away and the sound is terrible like it.
Thanks,
Glad it came of use!
Wow I never thought I could be a silly thing like that, sound was really awful before, THANK YOU!!!
haha awesome, works perfectly!
Amazing! Thank you so much! You have improved my quality of life at work by at least 10%!
